Dancers hot to trot for a Miami Heat spot

Dozens of dancers hoping to get their big break shimmied and shook their way through a grueling day of tryouts Sunday to become part of Miami Heat’s dance team.

“Miami is a melting pot, so we have girls from around the world,” said Natalia Gonzalez, a Miami Heat dance coach. “I think that’s what makes Miami Heat dancers unique.”

Throughout the day, the field was narrowed to between 40 and 50 hopefuls who will attend a four-day boot camp next week.

The finals will be Friday, when the 2016-17 HEAT Dancers will be announced.
