The Miami Heat is willing to offer three of its players and
their first chance of draft pick next year just to get Russell Westbrook from
the Oklahoma City Thunder team.
The three players Miami is willing to
let go are Goran Dragic, Josh Richardson and Justise Winslow, according to Sports Rageous. The Heat is still reeling from
the loss of its vaunted guard, Dwyane Wade to the Chicago Bulls. Team
president Pat Riley lost no time in signing up new recruits like Derrick
Williams from the New York Knicks, James Johnson fr
om the Toronto Raptors and
Luke Babbitt from the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Miami Heat however, is keen in
acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, Riley
would have to present a very attractive offer to the Thunders. For one Westbrook,
the Heat would give three of its own to the Thunders. Miami is also willing to
give up its first dibs on next year's draft.
Such negotiations, is meaningless
unless, Chris Bosh leaves Miami. His departure will enable Riley to accede with
Westbrook's salary demand. Both the Miami Heat and Oklahoma Thunders are in the
midst of rebuilding their teams after losing some of their valuable players in
the ongoing trades. Perhaps the two could help each other improve their chances
of winning in the upcoming season.
The Oklahoma Thunder also has its reasons for making such trade.
Westbrook has already said that he wants to be a free agent by 2017. They had
reason to believe that Russell is going to leave them anyway by that time.
The Thunder also believed that Kevin Durant would someday come
back to them. Their former forward player left the team to sign up with the
Golden State Warriors. Westbrook is also a very talented player and there is a
chance that other teams can give better trade offers.
